Amit Garg
Principal, Samsung NEXT Ventures

Amit Garg is a venture capitalist at Samsung NEXT, where he focuses on early-stage deep tech in software and services, with Digital Health as primary focus and Emerging Markets especially India as secondary focus. One of his key successes as a VC is helping take nuTonomy from seed to a $450M acquisition. Amit's operational background is in product and analytics at Google and his own startup. He was born and raised in Brazil, speaks 3 languages natively and 2 others fluently, and has lived significantly in 5 different parts of the world. Amit has also cofounded and been leading a non-profit since 2000, which crowd-funded and built a high school lab, a library and a hospital in rural India serving a community of 100,000 people.

Sivan Bercovici
CTO, Karius

Sivan Bercovici is the CTO of Karius, and previously was the CTO and co-founder of Lifecode. Throughout his career, Sivan has focused his research on developing mathematical models and algorithms, applying machine-learning to problems in human genetics and the broader study of human disease. Over the years, his growing emphasis has been on deriving efficient and effective methods for the analysis of high volumes of complex data stemming from studies of large cohorts and their genomes, offering new ways to discover disease origin, with immediate implications on preventive and therapeutic solutions. Since moving to the Bay Area, Sivan has been mentoring early stage startups, including early ventures from Stanford. His focus has been mainly on startups with a clear core technology, helping companies transition their ideas to the industrial setting. Sivan holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and was a postdoctoral researcher and a Senior Research Scientist at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

Zhaoshi Jiang
Executive Director of Bioinformatics & Clinical Data Sciences, Gilead Sciences

Zhaoshi Jiang is executive director of Bioinformatics & Clinical Data Sciences at Gilead Sciences. He was trained in both clinical medicine (former pathologist) and genomics. Zhaoshi has been working in both clinical and industrial settings over a decade, his research focus on bioinformatics, pharmacogenomics, biomarker discovery and patient stratification. He has an excellent understanding of current trends and technologies in precision medicine and translational research in drug development. He holds a Ph.D. in Genome Sciences from the University of Washington and a Medical Degree in Clinical Medicine from Zheijiang University School of Medicine.

Brian Maples
VP/Head of Data Science, Cardinal Analytx

Brian Maples is VP and Head of Data Science at Cardinal Analytx, where he leads the data science team in creating actionable predictions and analyses to get patients the right care sooner. As the first employee at Cardinal Analytx, Brian designed and implemented the first version of the company's machine learning methodology and production pipeline, and built the data science team from scratch. He has served in an executive role from the company's beginning through acquiring Series A funding and its first paid customers. Brian holds a Masters degree in Statistics and Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford University.

Noga Leviner
Cofounder and CEO, PicnicHealth

Noga Leviner is the co-founder and CEO of PicnicHealth, a venture-backed digital-health startup with the mission to structure the world’s medical data to make it useful for both patients and researchers. After being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and struggling to keep track of her own health data, she was inspired to create a company to empowers patients with access to their complete, digital medical history. Noga has a BA from Stanford where she studied Human Biology and Economics.

Brigham Hyde
President, Concerto HealthAI

Brigham Hyde, Ph.D., is President at Concerto HealthAI. He was previously Chief Data Officer and senior VP of Analytics at Decision Resources Group where he led client direct data analytics for Life Sciences. He was also CEO and co-founder of Relay Technology Management which was acquired by DRG in 2014. Dr. Hyde has over 15 years life science experience and prior to founding Relay Technology Management was an equity research analyst in Medical Technology and Life Science Tools at Cowen & Co. in Boston. Dr. Hyde received his Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology from the Tufts University School of Medicine.

Pat Walters
VP, Relay Therapeutics

Pat Walters heads the Computation ? Informatics group at Relay. This group focuses on novel applications of computational methods that integrate computer simulations and experimental data to provide insights that drive drug discovery programs. Prior to joining Relay, he spent more than 20 years at Vertex Pharmaceuticals where he was Global Head of Modeling ? Informatics. In this role, he served on the global research leadership team and was a part of the cystic fibrosis research steering group. Pat is a member of the editorial advisory board for the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, and previously held similar roles with Molecular Informatics, and Letters in Drug Design ? Discovery. He continues to play an active role in the scientific community. Pat was the Chair of the 2017 Gordon Conference on Computer-Aided Drug Design. He has been instrumental in many community driven efforts to evaluate computational methods, including the NIH funded Drug Design Data Resource (D3R) and the American Chemical Society TDT initiative. Pat received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Arizona where he studied the application of artificial intelligence in conformational analysis. Prior to obtaining his Ph.D., he worked at Varian Instruments as both a chemist and a software developer. Pat received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
